Chef Billy Ngo is the Founder, Chef and Partner of the highly acclaimed Kru Contemporary Japanese Cuisine (Kru) and Fish Face Poke Bar locations in Sacramento, CA.
Chef Billy Ngo is the Founder, Chef and Partner of the highly acclaimed Kru Contemporary Japanese Cuisine (Kru) and Fish Face Poke Bar locations in Sacramento, CA.
Throughout his career, Billy has become known for his use of the best ingredients and flavor, and his commitment to increasing sustainability in his menu.
Billy hails from Hong Kong and moved to Sacramento when he was 8 months old.
A graduate from California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, Chef Ngo worked at various regional favorites including Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Taka’s Sushi and The Kitchen, prior to opening Kru in 2005.
Billy has been a featured Chef at Pebble Beach Food & Wine and Los Angeles Food & Wine and has made several television appearances on popular culinary shows including Glutton for Punishment, Man Fire Food and Cutthroat Kitchen.

FRESH, FRESH, FRESH... is the word at Ngo's restaurant. Big chunky varietals of raw fish fill these bowls of artfully mixed veggies and sauces. Fish Face Poke Bar offers a variety of fresh seafood salads and hand rolls.
It's the simplicity of it all that makes it so appealing. A light dressing of sesame oil and sea salt over smartly sourced and fresh tuna or other fish. That's it. Perfect.

If it's your first time, you may be overcome by all the choices. Keep it simple. They have some chef's choice selections like the "classic" pictured above. Lots of Tuna and scallops that simply melt in your mouth... and it makes it easy to order!
If you're brand new to the Poke scene and want to ease on in with a sushi type order, try their Chirashi. This comes loaded with raw and cooked seafood over organic sushi rice, side of wasabi, pickled ginger, soy sauce. Can't go wrong with this kid!
